#GREENPROTOCOL WEDDING FOR A CHANGE FOR AN #IMPACT
As two passionate founders of sustainable startups, Nik and I have spent the past few months meticulously planning our wedding. Our unwavering commitment to our shared mission and vision has guided us every step of the way. With our deep-rooted belief in sustainability, we have wholeheartedly embraced the concept of a green protocol wedding.
To ensure that our wedding aligns with our values, we have collaborated with various startups and organizations from different parts of India. Their involvement will contribute to creating an event that embodies sustainability and mindful consumption. Together, we have devised a comprehensive plan that follows a zero-waste approach and emphasizes the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Every aspect of our wedding has been transformed to reflect our green protocol. From the decorations, food, and waste to the attire and accessories, sustainability has been at the forefront of our decision-making. We have strived to minimize waste, opting for eco-friendly alternatives and consciously selecting items that can be repurposed or recycled after the celebration.

Our vision for a green protocol wedding extends beyond the physical aspects. We are committed to raising awareness among our guests about the importance of sustainability and inspiring them to make conscious choices in their own lives. By showcasing the possibilities of a sustainable wedding, we hope to inspire others to consider the environmental impact of their celebrations.
Through our wedding, Nik and I aim to demonstrate that joyful and memorable events can be created while honoring our commitment to the planet. We are excited to embark on this sustainable journey and are immensely grateful for the support and collaboration we have received from various individuals and organizations who share our values.
Together, we are stepping towards a greener future,
Allow me to introduce the remarkable organizations that were an integral part of our wedding. Febinora Events, a women-led startup specializing in zero-waste event management, meticulously planned and coordinated the entire event. Their ideology and concept for the green protocol event were truly inspiring.
For our invitation cards, we collaborated with Eichhotech, a student startup based in Kerala. Their focus on creating value-added products from water hyacinth resulted in beautifully crafted invitation cards that were visually appealing and supported a sustainable cause.
The decorations were adorned with exquisite artisanal products, sourced from ForestPost, an NGO dedicated to supporting tribal communities in Kerala. The beautifully handwoven baskets and mats added a touch of traditional craftsmanship to our wedding. Additionally, Kids Kottappuram, another impactful NGO focused on empowering disabled individuals and women, played a significant role in making our event meaningful and inclusive.

In our commitment to sustainability, we opted for biodegradable plates and cutlery made from wheat bran, provided by the innovative startup Thooshan. Palm Petals, eco ware, a women-led organization, supplied us with eco-friendly ice cream cups, further reinforcing our dedication to environmentally conscious choices.

When it came to attire, we embraced the beauty of handloom fabrics from Balaramapuram and Kuthappily. These timeless pieces showcased the rich heritage of Indian textiles. Moreover, our reception dress was a unique creation—a patch dress concept—crafted by a talented scrap artist Hannah from Mumbai and Byhand a local organization in Kerala, showcasing their innovative approach to upcycling textile waste.

The involvement of these organizations reflects our desire to create a wedding that goes beyond celebration, promoting social impact and sustainability. We are immensely grateful for their contributions and proud to have collaborated with such passionate and dedicated partners.
Together, we have woven a tapestry of conscious choices, supporting artisans, empowering communities, and reducing our environmental footprint. Our wedding serves as a testament to the potential of sustainable collaborations and the beauty that can be created when we prioritize both love and the planet.
The patch dress was exquisitely complemented with bamboo jewelry, crafted by talented artist Shani, Bambook, from Wayanad. The intricate designs and sustainable materials added a unique touch to the ensemble, reflecting our commitment to eco-friendly fashion choices.
In our efforts to manage the waste produced during the event responsibly, we enlisted the expertise of Zewa Ecosystems. Their innovative solutions for biowaste management ensured that the waste generated was effectively handled, aligning with our zero waste goals. Their dedication to environmental preservation made them the ideal partner for this important aspect of our wedding. Iraaloom was an integral part of the event, by all means, supporting each part of the green protocol wedding.
By integrating these sustainable elements into our wedding, from the attire and jewelry to the invitation cards and waste management, we aimed to create an event that exemplified our values and commitment to a greener future. We are grateful for the collaboration and support of these organizations, as they played a vital role in making our wedding not only a celebration of love but also a celebration of sustainability.
A green protocol wedding can have a significant impact on society and individuals, particularly in terms of waste management and reducing plastic usage. By implementing eco-friendly practices and promoting sustainability, a green protocol wedding encourages a shift towards more environmentally conscious choices. Here's how it can influence society and people in these specific areas:
1. Waste Management: A green protocol wedding focuses on minimizing waste generation and implementing proper waste management strategies. This can involve various measures, such as recycling and composting, to ensure that materials are reused or disposed of responsibly. By reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills, a green wedding contributes to a cleaner environment and helps conserve natural resources.
2. Plastic Usage Reduction: Plastic is a major environmental concern due to its non-biodegradable nature and harmful impact on ecosystems. A green protocol wedding promotes the avoidance of single-use plastics and encourages the use of sustainable alternatives. This can include using biodegradable or compostable dinnerware, utensils, and decorations, as well as providing refillable water stations instead of disposable plastic bottles. By minimizing plastic usage, a green wedding helps combat plastic pollution and raises awareness about sustainable alternatives.
3. Awareness and Education: Organizing a green protocol wedding can serve as a platform to educate guests and the broader community about sustainability. By incorporating eco-friendly practices, couples can inspire others to adopt similar measures in their own events and daily lives. Sharing information about the environmental impact of waste and plastic consumption can help raise awareness and encourage people to make more sustainable choices beyond the wedding occasion.
4. Shift in Social Norms: Green weddings challenge traditional notions of extravagance and excessive consumption by emphasizing simplicity, minimalism, and eco-consciousness. When couples choose to prioritize sustainability, they set an example that challenges the prevailing culture of waste and overconsumption. This shift in social norms can lead to a broader acceptance of sustainable practices and encourage others to adopt similar principles in their own celebrations and lifestyles.
Overall, a green protocol wedding can influence society and individuals by promoting waste management practices, reducing plastic usage, raising awareness, and inspiring a shift towards more sustainable choices. By incorporating eco-friendly practices into weddings, couples can contribute to a more environmentally conscious society and encourage positive changes in people's behaviors and attitudes towards waste and plastic consumption.
